oldies but goldies

When I was photographed by We are City, the colours were strongly revised, so that my beloved 1950s jacket looked teal. But it is green, one of my favorite colours: a perfect cold dark forest green.

This little numer is my oldest vintage treasure, because I bought is twelve years ago for 10 Deutschmarks on a fleamarket, when I started with that "40s/50s-thing" and wear it every year with pleasure.

I treated it with some expensive handcarved buttons from this traditional shop in Berlin. BTW, I had to move these buttons some times since then, to still fit in, but that is another issue...

And when we talk about oldies, here is another goldie: the first hat in my collection. Isn´t he perfect for autumn?

hat: 1950s vintage - from a hat collector
mother of pearl clip ons: 1950s vintage - present from honey
bakelite hatpin: 1950s vintage - fleamarket
red leather gloves:  Röckl

Not to forget my good old grey-brown 1980s nylon stockings with the funny seams, which never had a ladder. Do you have such goldies, too?

the good old spa days

http://www.franzensbad.cz/img/frantiskovy-lazne/historie-soucasnost/01.jpg
taken from here
Franziskove Lazne once was a very famous spa in the time of the Austro-Hungarian monarchy, called "Franzensbad" back then. Many rich and famous people came there to drink the water out of the mineral springs, eat the famous wafers and listen to the live music of the stars of that time, like Tschaikowski, Chopin and Smetana.

Today, the spring still gives its healthy warm wather and you can still eat the wafers too, but the glamour is gone. The hotels are mostly empty houses and the streets are filled with grannies. But I like places like these, who are in a kind of big sleep. We used a grey day to visit the great old spa architecture, were sitting in silent cafés and dreamt of the ladies in withe lace crinoline dresses and parasoles.

BTW, the healty water tastes disgusting, but have a look at the great hall!

 leopard coat: fleamarket
dress and hat: ebay.uk
woolscarf: made by me
ostrich leather bag: 60s vintage my grannys

The wafers are called "Oblaten" and taste yummy, especially when they are fresh made and warm.

And we even found an oldtimer museum in one of the old palaces and loved it.

Come on, let´s hop into the cool Skoda and go on a never-ending trip trough forgotten places!

winter wonderland

Last time I badly needed some time to relax and hide from the world, so we jumped into the car and drove into the mountains. Driving on the highway, we changed from sunny autumn into another world - a freezy winter wonderland. But see by yourself:

Glittering snowflakes and icicles everywhere - time to build the first snowman in the sun for this year. My favorite winter activity.

silkscarf: 50s vintage from a vintagefair
sweater mit satinbow: Mango
pants: Heyday
leather gloves: 50s vintage fleamarket
lined wedge boots: Deichmann

After all that walking in the snow it was time to enjoy our spa hotel and the mineral spring. The spring is famous because it contains the radioactive element Radon. It was like a magic bullet in the old days.

In the spa there was an old menue on display, what would be perfect for an atomic 1950s superhero. It recommends trouts with yummy radioactive swamp taste... Enjoy your meal!

We are Berlin

The other day I entered the fleamarket Boxhagener Platz just to do a little sunday walk to come over the hangover. I did no effort with my clothes, shoes or hair. But isn´t it a universal law, that on days like this you will run into your ex boyfriend or someone is pointing a camera on you?

The sweet photographer Juliette Main from We Are Berlin took a few pictures and asked me for my favorite place in Berlin. I mentioned the shop ROCKING CHAIR, because I really like it and would like to give it some support so that maybe some tourists with big wallets follow me there. They also did some pictures in the shop and made a collage with them. Hope you enjoy.
