a head of roses

This week was full of excitement: the concert of Eddie Spagetti, followed by the B52´s.
What a great fun, I was dancing all night long!

I had to wear a propper 60s outfit, with a beehive, graphic eye make up and plastic jewelery.

The other night, I teamed my LBD with my hair ribbon full of roses for a late summer evening out.

While another, more formal birthday party was on the list, it was time for the first appearance of my Californian rose. I wore no other jewels or fancy make up, because this darling stands on its own. It is a real pink 1940s silk rose for the hair with two cute soft velvet leaves. I always dreamed of buying authentic hair flowers and my dream came true in Moro Bay. I have to show you all about that incredible shop I found in my next blogpost...

everyday vs. sunday

mexican blouse: vintage 50s, vintage shop
skirt: Voodoo Vixen, found in Retro Paradise
 belt: vintage 50s, years ago

This weekend we joined a gay wedding and the dresscode was "easy garden party". Time for my two new shopping findings from Santa Cruz, California. I love to mix true vintage with retro brands, not at least because it´s difficult fo find fitting vintage for my curves. And eventually the perfect party for white shoes...

Look at the sweet eyelet embroidery.

shoes: Miss L fire

When it comes to retro brands, I prefer this Fleur dress for my everyday wandrobe.
Just adding some vintage accessoires and I´m ready to leave the house.

Mah jong bracelet: vintage 40s, fleamarket San Franciso
sun glasses: vintage 40s, fleamarket years ago
daisy clip ons: vintage 60s, vintage shop

souvenir bag: vintage 50s, etsy
wrap dress: Heyday
shoes: Keds

dazzeling heaven

Months ago, I bought this 60s style summer dress on ebay.uk with nice shades of blue and turquoise.
On our roadtrip trough California, honey made me a special present: the matching
40s blue galalith swirl bangle and 60s lily shaped enamel clip ons.

I love their brightness and the wonderful memories they bring, because the place we found them was very special: the DAZZLES in Palm Springs. OMG, when I entered the shop - I felt like in heaven! A shop full of handpicked mid-century jewelery, masks, chalkware, glassware... an unbelieveble collection! But see by yourself:

I still dream of the great spagetti poodles, I have to go back one day...
make sure to visit this place, when you are in Palm Springs.

driving the Highway 1 to the great Santa Cruz:

beach fun, vintage shopping, mexican food and an art-deco-cinema, needless to say I was very happy there.

arriving at San Francisco

after vintage shopping at Haight Street I enjoyed all my shopping successes
for so far at the bedside locker in our 1930s hotel

playing Mini Golf at the Lake Tahoe

watching TCM on a rainy day in a retro motel near the Mono Lake

Welcome to the wild Wild West on the 4th of July!

After hiking in the more than beautiful Yosemite National Park,
we were heading trought the unscalable Death Valley by 50 degrees strait to Nevada.

Las Vegas was overlain by a giant smoke cloud from the bushfire,

but at night - it´s just neon lights and show girls.

on Route 66 trough the Mojave Desert we reached Palm Springs, our last station.
There I was finding myself, as a vintage clipons collector,  in real HEAVEN...
but more from that in the next post.

PS: a big thanx to all our fabulous air bnb hosts!
