Christmas countdown

HoHoHo out there in blogland! Sure you are in the same Christmas countdown stress as I am. So I make it short.

Saturday was time to break out and show the world what St. Nicholas aka Honey bought me: this 50s handbag made out of marbled silver Lucite and woven chrome.

The bouncer asked me, entering the club: "What the hell is that? Why you carry a thing to make meat loaf in??"

We joined the Salon Obscure, a party row for swing lovers. They had such a fantastic surreal light there...
and we danced a lot. I missed swing dancing so much in the almost gone by busy year.

Tired and bored from all the grey turtlenecks and black coats in this season - I chose a propper summer dress with a bright roses print. It is a "70s does 40s" crepe frock, a present from Just Another Wandrobe Experience 's fleamarket stall.
I had to wear it with furry booties underneath - it's still a rainy dark December night.

And lucite again on my 50s charm bracelet with english coins - a gift I made myself.

Hope you all have a stressfree holiday time with your family and a very dedicated Santa!

time for champions

The passed weeks were so full of excitement!
It started with the first game of our German soccer team in Brazil.
I baked this 10 inch high chocolate-marzipan-cake, what a yummy monster.

Then it was time for the Geschwister Pfister and their 50s-based drag show.
The aftershow party happend in a gay bar which looked very much like my own home.

bakelite: 40s vintage, vintage shop and ebay
leggins: drugstore
shoes: 40s vintage, ebay

Three days later, my beloved Dolly Parton was in town!
I was so happy that I got one of the rare tickets as a christmas present and I was very excited to see her live.

 hairflower: 40s vintage, vintage shop
dress: years ago from a professional dancer's shop
cowboy boots: Buffalo
handbag: 50s vintage, my grannies

Dolly sang all her great emotional songs and I cried a river. Let´s say two.
And afterwards - great time with drags again. I especially loved their hair and boobs, but Dolly's were bigger.
Larger then life!

Next on the scedule: Berlin fashion week and the Vintage circus.
Just another wandrobe experience and I went there to buy... nothing.
Read the hole story about it in her great blog.

Isn´t she beautiful?
I wore:
dress: 60 vintage, vintage shop
headpiece: 50s vintage, ebay
bag: 50s vintage, vintage shop

But we made the best out of it and I even got the perfect Pin-up body for a minute:

And how this exciting time ended? I think everyone out there already knows.
I put my patriotic eye make up with soccer lashes on and...

We won! World champion feeling all over!

the versatile dress

When I visited Madrid in March I found a very versatile dress. It´s handsewn, out of a shiny cheap lining fabric without a waistline, just a sweet ruffled detail on the shoulders and a simple collar - I would say it was homemade in the early 50s.

For a night out I styled it with bamboo and early plastic jewelery from the 40s and 50s, a vintage belt and did a Carmen Miranda inspired hairstyle with two buns in the neck and a big front roll.

hair flowers: DIY
necklace: 40s vintage, ebay
dress: 50s vintage, Madrid
bamboo handle bag: 70s vintage, ebay
pink seamed fishnets: present from mum
sling pumps: Miss L fire

And for a walk in the sun and ice cream I paired the same dress with a cardigan and my everyday pumps.

 sunglasses: 40s vintage, fleamarket
cardigan: 50s vintage, vintage shop in Madrid
wicker bag: 50s vintage, vintage shop in New York

The handmade embroidery on the cardigan is so sweet.

My everyday pumps are those 40s vintage ones, worn with nude seamed fishnets froms What Katie did. This thights were my first buy from WKD years ago, they are still intact and I love the quality of the sewn seams. To show you more, I'm planning a post about my seamed stockings and nylons...

Hola Madrid!

This year I celebrated my birthday with my best friend in the beautiful baroque town of Madrid.
So much fun: We loved all the colourful details of the architecture and went vintage shopping - of course.

My leopard shopping bag is full of 50s goodies I will show in upcoming posts.

This mexican restaurant was so cool and the food delicious.

We enjoyed a Flamenco show on our first evening and a trashy dragshow on the second one.
I felt like living in an Almodovar movie.

After all that shopping and clubbing it was time for an art-marathon.
Beside the huge Prado I liked the Modern Art section of the Carmen Thyssen-Bornemisza Collection the most.

While strolling I found this incredible shop called Burlesque: full of wigs and professional make up.
I came out with another shopping bag full of fake lashes and brushes - happy me.

Sadly the weather was just grey and cold. Time for more nightclubbing.

hairflower: real carnation, present from a Flamenco dancer
dress: Folter clothing, present from Honey
cardigan: Vintage Vixen
shoes: Molly Holly

In the Charada Club we listened to the dark ballads of the super beautiful Chrysta Bell.

Leaving you with another typical detail of Madrid...

glitter in the powder room

The other day a friend and I visited a Burlesque show in the Bassy Club and she made some pics of me in the Ladies' lavatory - not the most glamourous location, I know. But my beloved 50s cocktail jacket, found on a fleamarket and my 6-inch-high beehive was worth it.

The jacket is so classic: made of crêpe, bat sleeves, a nipped in waist and very nice embroidery with little black jet pearls.

Pockets with scallop!

While we powder our noses, let´s have a closer look at my make up: I used Kryolan pro-products only, padded the pink glitter on the lids just with an eyeshadow base, draw a winged liner and put tons of mascara on my natural lashes to get that spidery look - it´s not a faux pas anymore - it´s en vogue!

The huge pink glitter flower in my hair is a souvenir from fabulous Las Vegas!

The show girls were so hot, that I had to cool down myself a bit.

I hailed a taxi in my vintage Sergio Rossi high heels and felt very happy to live in a town
where you can enjoy a great show with international acts on a common wednesday.

Eddie and me

Yesterday was a good day: Eddie Spaghetti was in town!
With the SUPERSUCKERS he played a super great show in the legandary club "SO 36"  in Kreuzberg
and signed the new record.

After that we could talk a bit and made a fan pic. How stupid starstucked I look... but isn't he damned sexy?
A broad-shouldered, witty, bearded r´n´r-bass player with a big heart - my kind of a man. (Like honey is.)

Eddie Spaghetti did funtastique solo country records. Check my fav song out:

But what did I wear?

hairband: asos
pink bra: blush
(Ladies, have a look at this Berlin-based brand - the quality is excellent and they have some vintage inspired designs!)
dress: present from a friend, guess it´s from the 80s
belt: 50s vintage
cowboy boots: Buffalo
 bag: 60s vintage

While posing with the record, I tryed to look a bit "edgy"... ha ha ha

Nothing is better then a blood cooking real loud punkrock show to feel alive again.
And here's a little quest: Do you find me in the crowd on this pic Eddie took from stage?

valentine's day

First of all, I hope you had a great Valentine's Day with your loved ones. I had it, started with baking for honey and friends: lemon muffins and a red velvet cake.  So yummy...

„Here's looking at you, Kid!“

After all the sugar we went clubbing. I chose a nautical themed outfit, because I have a soft spot for sailors, when it comes to romantic. Time for my kid's souvenir sailor felt hat from - I guess - the 50s.

The hat is from my granny and really well made. It´s a souvenir from the "Hamburg-Amerika"-line and it has those cool ribbons in the back.

shirt: Tom Tailor
pants: Vivien of Holloway
bag: 60s vintage, fleamarket find
glass heart pendant: 50s vintage, my mum's

While baking I got a little cut and covered it with an ancor plaster, of course. I´m a slave to the details.

Honey had made me a Valentine's Day present years ago: those lovely key-for-my heart-clip-ons from the 40s. So I always wear them on that special day and this year I teamed them with other 40s marcasite goodies from my collection.

Bye bye for so long and a special kiss to all the singles out there: love will find you!
