happy pink new year!

Happy new year to everyone in Blogland!

We had such a fun-tastique New Years Eve party with our poker gambling friends - a night full of laughter and happiness, and complete authentic 1950s party decoration: the garlands, the dinnerware for the old school buffet and the party hats.
I wore a dice and the boys could choose one of those:

But now the everyday life is coming back.
January and February are the most depressing months for me, so I couldn´t resist to buy that neon pink wool when I first saw it. I made myself an oversized turtleneck to fight the upcoming greyness.

wool neck: made by myself
dress: Bernie Dexter, years ago
faux latex leggins: Arrogant cat

Do you like the fancy wall art of my childhood idol Nina Hagen in the background?

My new wedges fit the colour of the wool nearly perfect, so does my brooch...

umbrella brooch: 50s vintage, ebay
bambi clip ons: 50s vintage, ebay
traditional costume silver bracelet:  christmas present from honey's mum

And there is another pink thing I love right now: my new hair tonic "Southern Rose".
It smells so nice and gives so much shine to the hair. It has a permanent place next to my bathroom mirror now.

PS: I felt so happy when I opend the christmas present from my BMF (best male friend):
OMG - a Dolly Parton concert ticket!

It waits now on my kitchen radio to get converted... I plan to wear my pink cowboy boots then, of course.

dazzeling heaven

Months ago, I bought this 60s style summer dress on ebay.uk with nice shades of blue and turquoise.
On our roadtrip trough California, honey made me a special present: the matching
40s blue galalith swirl bangle and 60s lily shaped enamel clip ons.

I love their brightness and the wonderful memories they bring, because the place we found them was very special: the DAZZLES in Palm Springs. OMG, when I entered the shop - I felt like in heaven! A shop full of handpicked mid-century jewelery, masks, chalkware, glassware... an unbelieveble collection! But see by yourself:

I still dream of the great spagetti poodles, I have to go back one day...
make sure to visit this place, when you are in Palm Springs.

The Pyrenees rock!

We wandered trough the sunny Pyrenees on the Spanish and the Frensh side,
talked to the ghosts in the Catharist castles,

walked over narrow little brigdes,

took our time for the details,

and picked wild flowers on the wayside.

At least it was time to cool down and channeling Esther Williams in the pool.

swimsuit: Esther Williams  - present from my friends

And after all the money I spent in Barcelona, to bring home the sun dried french
bouquet of wild flowers and put them in one of my 40s wall vases - priceless.

fleamarket happiness 2.0

Have you noticed the difference between the title pic of my blog and this,
what I did today? right: the TV Tower!

Sunday means taking a walk, cake and fleamarket - my favorite routine!

We started with a cake in the beautiful decorated café Wahrhaft Nahrhaft, highy recommended, and it tasted as good as it looks.

clip ons: 40s vintage
eyeshadow: Lime Crime

Refreshed by a raspberry smoothie, I entered the fleamarket in an old H&M dress and my comfortable 40s suede "spider" pumps.Today I found four nice goodies:

A Billie Holiday biography, right at the time because
I finised my Betty Grable biography yet, an early plastic brooch,

a 40s style blouse and a sweet colourful 50s birdy wall plaque.

Now it´s time for the propper Sunday meal, cooked by honey with love and eaten with style, with tablecloth and candles. Another great Sunday routine...

Absolute Beginner

Today is the day: After years and years of daily reading blogs from others, I decided to do my own from now.  I named it after the title song out of my favorite movie "A foreign affair" with my idol Marlene Dietrich, made by the great Billy Wilder.

The original pictures of my hometown always touch my heart very deeply, especially the German part of course...

Marlene is singing the song in the four Languages of the  Allied occupation in the late 40s in Berlin.  I will write this blog in English, to improve my language skills. Though I never learned in school, but from old movies, songs and the streets of South Africa, please forgive me, when my English it is not that perfect all the time.

To introduce myself, I show you some details of my world and of course myself.

I started collecting head vases and wall plaques in 2005
and I´m still in love with my first old little lady.

That 50s vintage silk dress came to me
on the Hammersmith Vintage Fair in 2008.
The little 50s silk flowerhatpiece and the 40s snakeskin pumps
are ebay.com finds from the same year.

My collection of bangles and hairflowers
growes bigger each jear.

Beside my jobs I work as a makeup artist and decorator. Five jears ago I founded the photo art project OPALICON with my besties. Can you figure out, what our next project is about?

Show you some of the costumes and give you a hint: we will have two sharp-witted British guys in front of the camera next Saturday...
