a forest full of cukes

You will see no cukes in this forest now, but there were a lot in the summertime. It's the "Spreewald" - famous for his pickled cucumbers, the beautiful little canals and the traditional costumes. A pefect place to hide from the city for a few days. We found a little house in the middle of nowhere to stay in...

spent a day in a spa and did little walks. Sadly the weather was just misty and rainy - time for the one and only autumnal jacket in the world, of course a classic Pendleton 49ers with red check.

turban: made out of a H&M scarf mit red lips prints
jacket: Pendleton 49ers from etsy
jeans: collectif
boots: Clarks  Originals

In the nice Spreewald museum we could admire the traditional costumes with the huge hats. I like this picture of a little lady on her first day in school from the 1930s. The Sorb, the natives, still wear it proudly.

The museum even had a kind of historical train station, look at all the great dresses and suitcases.

I took place in one of the cabins, pulled my Röckl gloves on and Honey drove the steam train back to Berlin...

The only jewelery I wore was this 1950s bracelet with acorns, autumnally like fallen leaves. Hope you enjoy this season too.

the third spring

Last weekend just another wardrobe experience and me joined the Berlin Fashion Exchange at the Postbahnhof, to be precise the Vintage part of it named "The Second Spring".

It started all well and we both built up our stalls with lots of hope, sun and good mood...

hat: 40s vintage, present from a vintage seller on a fair
dress: 50s vintage from etsy
tights: falke

The dress is made out of very soft novelty printed nylon with great violet color in it,
so what matches better than a 40s violet brooch?

And than we waited for well-founded clients. Me behind my stall...

and just another wardrobe experience in front of hers, armed with her sweet smile...

... but there was no big business waiting for us. Everyone was out there in the sun.

After taking down everything I felt like a ghost in the big empty market hall.

I will wait for the next real spring and will do some street fleamarket than - to give my stuff a third spring.

valentine's day

First of all, I hope you had a great Valentine's Day with your loved ones. I had it, started with baking for honey and friends: lemon muffins and a red velvet cake.  So yummy...

„Here's looking at you, Kid!“

After all the sugar we went clubbing. I chose a nautical themed outfit, because I have a soft spot for sailors, when it comes to romantic. Time for my kid's souvenir sailor felt hat from - I guess - the 50s.

The hat is from my granny and really well made. It´s a souvenir from the "Hamburg-Amerika"-line and it has those cool ribbons in the back.

shirt: Tom Tailor
pants: Vivien of Holloway
bag: 60s vintage, fleamarket find
glass heart pendant: 50s vintage, my mum's

While baking I got a little cut and covered it with an ancor plaster, of course. I´m a slave to the details.

Honey had made me a Valentine's Day present years ago: those lovely key-for-my heart-clip-ons from the 40s. So I always wear them on that special day and this year I teamed them with other 40s marcasite goodies from my collection.

Bye bye for so long and a special kiss to all the singles out there: love will find you!

in love with a picture

Yesterday we visited an exhibition of the artist Cem Ulug and I fell in love with this great spooky collage above. Sadly I can't affort it, but I get insprired for my own upcoming drawing projects... and isn´t everything about inspiration?

my new 60s-style coat: Ashley Brooke, present from my mom

But what´s under the coat?

hat: Filippo Catarzi
dress: 50s vintage from Electric Lemonade Vintageshop in Las Vegas
body and tights: Wolford
belt: 50s vintage
ankle boots: Even&odd

I love the heavy, black raw silk, the pleats and the buttons on the back.

Not to forget my little doggy friend, an early plastic brooch I got from a fleamarket.

Three further things I love right now:
My warm mint-coloured leather gloves, my 50s vintage fur scarf and my new lipstain from Lime Crime in Pink velvet.
What do you love right now?

real Californian treasures

40s style dress: Tara Starlet
grey leather gloves: 40s vintage, my grannies
tights : Falke
shoes: Molly Holly

The other weekend we joined a private atelier-party of an upcoming artist in Berlin Wedding.
Time to wear one of my treasures from Moro Bay California, but have a closer look on my accessoires:

hairflower: 40s vintage, Gina L. All that trimmings, CA
lucite clip ons: 50s vintage, ebay US

As promised, I wanna show you one of the happiest moments in my vintage-collecting-life: finding this shop!
We stranded in Moro Bay by accident and had a little going-around-expecting-nothing-walk, honey was lost in a vintage-record-store and while strolling around alone I got enlightened, but look by youself:

I was so excited seeing this unique collection of true vintage trimmings, silk flowers, lace, velvet leaves, celluloid fruits... I was in heaven! And the owner was like a mother to me... you HAVE to go there, when you´re in CA! Your imagination of creating new styles or pimping high street clothing will go wild, believe me. I spent too much time and money there, but I regret nothing!

Back home, I decorated my home with some of these beautiful treasures. They will make the girls in my upcoming vintage-photo-project very, very happy:

white 40s velvet flowers, leaves and pearls for a bridal style in one of my wallvases

a blue 40s feather bird in one of my 50s smoke consumers

a 40s pink feather fan next to one of my 50s deer figurines on my vanity table

the 40s silk hair flower from my last post lives next to my 40s framed dry flowers

And last but no least, okay, I got some more treasures, the incredible 40s celluloid cherries. They remind me of the opening scene of "Pin up Girl" starring Betty Grable. Some of them are a bit cracked by the years and the light, but I dont care. "Made in Germany" the label says - so I had to bring those pretties home. Now one of my china scottie dogs watches over them.

Check out Lina's ebay store and make yourself happy!

fleamarket again

The first of May is traditionally fleamarkettime for me.
This year I bought the paper geisha mask I always had on my mind.

The "Ostbahnhof-Flomarkt" is huge, so flats are a must.

dress: jears ago from ebay uk
strawbag: 50s vintage from New York
shoes: Clarks Originals
tights: Falke

On my way I saw all these cherry blossoms - to perfect to ignore.

But see what I have found: a 40s hand brooch, a 50s silver leaves bracelet
and a paper hatbox with asian vintage ladies. Happy me!

In front of my home, I recognized another little treasure: a wild tulip. Springtime!
